The 4 most frequently asked questions about Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
The Dynamics 365 suite includes products such as Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Teams, etc.), Dynamics 365 for Sales & Marketing and Business Central (ERP) – all integrated through Microsoft’s Dataverse.
Since 2019, our 4PS Construct solution has been available on the Microsoft’s latest ERP platform Dynamics 365 Business Central. This provides a fully integrated suite of business products (such as Azure hosting, Office 365, Power BI etc.) and allows users to access the software at any time, from any location and on any device. Understandably, many Businesses wanting to make the move to Business Central have lots of questions.

1. What is Dynamics 365 Business Central?
Dynamics 365 is Microsoft’s suite of business products. The Dynamics 365 suite includes products such as Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Teams, etc.), Dynamics 365 for Sales & Marketing and Business Central (ERP) – all integrated through Microsoft’s Dataverse.
2. What are the differences between Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central?
Dynamics 365 Business Central is the successor to Dynamics NAV, but with a new architecture and interface. Dynamics NAV was phased out of Microsoft’s product offering in April 2019. Existing customers can continue to use Dynamics NAV. This remains a great product, although the developments are of course not standing still. When you want to upgrade, the application will transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central.
An important difference between Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central is that you can benefit from all new functionalities that the platform has to offer. For example, the latest 4PS Apps and Portals such as the On-site App and the 4PS Control portal have been designed specifically for Business Central. Curious about these new functionalities? 3. Is Dynamics 365 Business Central available in the cloud?
Yes, Business Central can be purchased as a full SaaS solution, making it fully available in the cloud. Nevertheless, Business Central and 4PS Construct are still available to purchase as an on-premise solution, or available to host in your own private cloud environment. Business Central works wherever you need it with the same user experience – however you deploy it: on-premise or in the cloud.
4. Can I easily migrate from Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central?
You can easily migrate from NAV to Business Central. The migration process at 4PS consists of several steps. Your account manager will discuss your requirements and aims of the project and recommend the best approach. Together with your account manager, a consultant will work on a service estimate based on the requirements of the project. Once the project scope is agreed, the actual migration process will start.
