We’re a Disability Confident Committed Employer

4PS UK registers as a Disability Confident Committed Employer demonstrating a commitment to changing behaviour and cultures with inclusive recruitment practices.

We’re pleased to announce that 4PS UK has registered as a Disability Confident Committed employer with the UK Government’s Department for Work and Pensions. Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better.

The Disability Confident scheme identifies those employers who are committed to inclusion and diversity in the workplace and helps employers recruit and retain great people, as well as:

  • challenge attitudes and increase understanding of disability
  • draw from the widest possible pool of talent
  • secure high-quality staff who are skilled, loyal, and hard-working
  • improve employee morale and commitment by demonstrating fair treatment

It also helps identify those employers who are committed to inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

While the number of disabled people in employment is growing, 1 in 5 of the working-age population are classed as disabled and there are an increasing number of people reporting a disability, largely driven by an increase in mental health conditions. The disability employment rate in 2021 was 52.7% compared to 81.0% for non-disabled people. (Source: GOV UK)

At 4PS, we are strongly committed to inclusion and greater diversity, we believe everyone deserves to have the same opportunities. Being part of the Disability Confident scheme demonstrates this commitment and we will actively encourage applications from people with disabilities and welcome them into our workplace.

Val Clarke, General Manager of 4PS UK said “We are proud to become a Disability Confident Committed Employer, it’s really important to increase the visibility and awareness of disability in the workplace. We want to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible to all. It’s also important that we support any of our existing employees who may need help and enable them to stay at work should they acquire a disability or develop a long-term health condition.”

As part of the Disability Confident scheme, 4PS UK agrees to take core actions:

Ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible – for example, ensure against discrimination, make job adverts accessible, provide information in accessible formats such as large print and accept applications in alternative formats.

Communicate and promote vacancies – advertise vacancies through a range of communication channels, get advice from Jobcentre Plus, Work Programme providers and local disabled people’s user-led organisations, and review current recruitment process.

Offer interviews to disabled people – encourage applications from disabled people by offering them an interview if they meet the minimum criteria for the job.

Anticipate and provide reasonable adjustments as required – make sure disabled people aren’t disadvantaged when applying for and doing their jobs.

Support any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition to stay in work – retaining an employee who has become disabled means keeping their valuable skills and experience.
